There was a time in my life when I assumed that faithful people would get older and smarter. Oddly, I witnessed many smart, older people become more faithful, some transitioning from solid atheism to Catholicism. Why is this? There was a time when religion was the norm. Regardless of whether you went to church or temple, it was likely that at least your grandparents were registered in some house of worship. Far from an insult, offering to pray for people when they were struggling was the obvious thing to do. Our country was founded as a place where people could have freedom to practice their religion and has evolved into a place where the majority seem to be seeking freedom from religion. But where has that gotten us?
There are a lot of reasons we may claim to push religion from our lives. Perhaps, like most, we don’t like to be told what to do. We may also like to believe that we are in control and can take control over every situation. Also, God’s desires may make us uncomfortable, or unhappy. But are these things true? Most of us are looking for peace. Somehow, it remains just beyond our grasp. Why is this?
Deep down people know they are from God and they keep searching for something. The ones who don’t are lost, scattered, shattered and left in despair. For people who are scientific, there should be no reasoning with the idea that there is not a creator. In order for something to be in motion it has to be pushed. Who pushed the first thing if it wasn’t God? The idea that the Universe just combusted into being is even more unlikely than the theory of a creator, if you really think about it. So, why don’t more people think about it? If we evolved, then why isn’t everything human? Or, why aren’t we all still monkeys, since monkeys still exist? Why do people devote themselves to researching everything they can except for God?
We do have information about God. It was delivered to us through the prophets of the ages and through one man in particular, Jesus of Nazareth. People these days are so ignorant about Jesus that they actually believe it is just a theory that he even existed. They think that the four biographies of the life of Jesus were written by men who lived hundreds of years after Jesus because they have not done the research to learn that this simply is not true. They also don’t realize that the teachings of Jesus were passed down in a very particular manner to men who became the bishops of the early Catholic church, and that those same men wrote extensively about the teachings they inherited.
It’s interesting that I always thought the people who believed in Christ were the ignorant ones, the sheep. But, after reading the Bible, the writings of the church fathers and ancient Jewish texts, I recognize that I am the one who was ignorant. Diablo is another word for devil. Diabolical acts are acts of the devil. The root meaning of diabolic is shattered and scattered. I think that’s how the majority of the population feels these days, now that religion is a thing of the past. The devil is hard at work making sure that we see the good in pornography, guns, money, plastic surgery, birth control, abortion, divorce, drugs, euthanasia and having more stuff. We no longer pick up our cross like Jesus and bear the burden that God knows we need to grow spiritually. Instead, we make our own rules, design our own Gods who align with us, and suffer the consequences.
People who have aligned themselves with God do not kill innocent people with guns, divorce their spouses, have children out of wedlock, kill their children by abortion, kill their parents by injection, degrade women, go into ridiculous amounts of debt, let hungry people starve or let them live on the streets. I’m not talking about people who give lip service to God. People who are aligned with God submit to His will in all things and follow his rules–this is how they attain peace.
There is a reason that over two billion people in the world are Christians. Do you really think that a man who never existed could start a movement that would last over two thousand years? Especially, a movement that requires people to sacrifice that which pleases the body in order to have an abundance of that which satisfies the soul. God is the sole provider of peace. I publicly pray that we all do our research and align ourselves with God, sooner rather than later. If being on the side of God is crazy, count me in.
